TUNL - Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

TUNL is a simple arcade game made by a solo developer, Theodoracatos. This policy covers the TUNL apps for iOS and Android and the website at flytunl.ch, including the playable browser version at flytunl.ch/play. It explains what data TUNL and its third-party services collect, and why.

Data collected directly by TUNL

TUNL has no accounts. It stores your game progress, high scores, ship unlocks, and settings locally on your device. In the browser version this is your browser's local storage, and clearing your site data deletes it. Beyond the analytics and advertising services described below, two optional features - the open-web daily leaderboard and the "invite a friend" reward, both explained below - send a random, non-identifying ID to TUNL's own backend. Nothing else about how you play leaves your device.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

In the iOS and Android apps, TUNL shows interstitial ads between game sessions, and offers two optional rewarded videos that you choose to watch (to continue a run and for a daily shard bonus), using Google AdMob. If you own the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase, the interstitial ads are disabled entirely. The optional rewarded videos remain available, because you request them yourself.

On iOS, TUNL asks for your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before requesting personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized using your device's advertising identifier.

If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland, TUNL shows a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) before requesting ads, letting you choose whether to allow personalized advertising.

AdMob may collect the following on our behalf:

See Google's Privacy Policy and Google's User Consent Policy for details.

Advertising on the website (Google AdSense and Ad Manager)

The TUNL website loads Google AdSense code, both to verify the site and, where enabled, to show ads on its pages and in the browser game. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to TUNL and to other sites on the internet.

Where ads are shown to visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, a Google-certified consent message lets you choose whether to allow personalized advertising before any advertising cookies are used, and you can change that choice at any time. Elsewhere you can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or on aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services for details.

Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

On iOS and Android, TUNL uses Google Analytics for Firebase to measure how many people install the app after seeing a Google Ads campaign. This exists solely to tell us whether our advertising is working - it does not power any in-game feature, and TUNL has no account system for this data to attach to.

Firebase Analytics may collect on our behalf:

In the EU, UK, and Switzerland, this collection requires your consent through the same form described above - if you decline, Firebase Analytics does not store or read identifiers on your device. On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency choice additionally limits any collection linked to your advertising identifier. See Firebase's Privacy and Security page for details.

Website analytics (Cloudflare and Google Analytics)

The TUNL website (flytunl.ch, including the playable page at flytunl.ch/play) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which countries and referring sites visitors come from. It is privacy-first by design: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not track you across other websites. The data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you, so no consent prompt is required. See Cloudflare Web Analytics.

The browser game at flytunl.ch/play additionally reports a small number of events to Google Analytics, so that web traffic can be measured next to the apps: a page view, the start of a run, and the end of a run with its score. Each event carries a random identifier generated by your browser and kept in its local storage, the page address and title, the referring site or campaign parameters if there are any, the time spent, and your browser's user-agent string. The page does not load Google Analytics' own script and sets no cookies: the events are sent to TUNL's own server, which forwards them to Google. TUNL's server does not forward your IP address. None of this is linked to your name, because TUNL has no accounts.

In-app purchases

The iOS and Android apps offer two one-time purchases, "Remove Ads" and "Unlock All Ships", processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit / Play Billing. Everything else in the game, including paint finishes, is bought with in-game shards, never with money. Payment details are handled by Apple or Google and never reach TUNL's developer. TUNL only receives confirmation of whether you own each purchase, stored locally on your device.

Leaderboards (Game Center / Play Games)

If you sign in to Game Center (iOS) or Play Games (Android), your score and public gamertag/alias may be submitted to a leaderboard managed by Apple or Google, governed by their respective privacy policies. TUNL does not receive or store your Game Center / Play Games identity.

Daily leaderboard & referral rewards (TUNL's own backend)

The open-web version of TUNL (flytunl.ch/play) shows a live daily world rank, and on all three platforms - iOS, Android, and the open web - TUNL's optional "invite a friend" reward runs on TUNL's own backend, built on Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare D1. This is infrastructure TUNL's developer operates directly, not a third-party advertising or analytics network - the only outside party involved is Cloudflare, acting purely as the hosting provider for that backend.

To support these two features, the following is sent there:

Daily leaderboard scores are deleted after 45 days. An unclaimed referral reward is kept until it is claimed; claimed referral records are deleted after roughly 400 days. None of this data is sold, shared with advertisers, or used for anything beyond these two features.

Sharing a challenge (the SHARE or CARD button after a run) also stores that run's score, the date of its cave and the path you flew - a line of heights, nothing else - under a random challenge ID, so a friend who opens the link can race it. When a friend flies it, their best score on it and whether it was their first run are stored with their random identifier. Your identifier is never shown to anyone. Challenges and their results are deleted after 45 days.

Children's privacy

TUNL does not knowingly direct personalized advertising or data collection at children under the age required by applicable law in your region. Where required, ad requests are made non-personalized by default.

Your choices / requesting data deletion

TUNL has no account system, so nothing above can be tied to your real identity in the first place. Most of the data described above (your advertising identifier, approximate device/location, ad interaction data, and the Firebase installation, location, and session data) is collected and retained by Google directly (via AdMob and Firebase respectively), under Google's own retention schedule described in Google's Privacy Policy. To stop this collection or request its deletion:

Changes to this policy

If TUNL's data practices change, this page will be updated with a new "Last updated" date.
